Making room during the day
If symptoms affect your work or social life, think about the situations you find difficult. You can discuss practical needs such as a cooler environment, short breaks or doing demanding tasks at different times.
Talking with people close to you
You might say, 'I need you to listen before suggesting solutions,' or, 'I feel more tired because my sleep has been interrupted.' You decide how much to share. You can also start an open conversation with your partner about comfort and intimacy.
Different forms of support
Your needs may be medical, psychological or practical. Rest, sharing responsibilities and asking someone to listen are different forms of support. Similar experiences can offer a sense of connection, but someone else’s experience does not replace an individual medical assessment.
See it from your own perspective.
- What small adjustment at work or in my social life could give me more room?
- Which needs and boundaries would I like to share with people close to me?
